Scottish Country Dancing is a type of dancing similar to Square Dancing. The dances are danced in sets of usually four couples. The dances are briefed and usually walked through before being danced. The music is usually one of two tempos - slow ( strathspeys ) and fast ( reels or jigs ). It is a social form of dancing - you usually dance with a new partner for each new dance. This will be our fifth year at Harcourt Park. Our group dances in Scarborough and is one of many groups in the Toronto area. Come and join us as we always encourage audience participation. One of our dances, devised by Ron is "Harcourt Cross Roads" - a dance recently published in a book celebrating 50 years of dancing for the Toronto RSCD Society. For more information, phone Ron or Betty Baker ( Home: 416-286-9755 or cottage: 705-448 -9021).
